Calculate the quantity of cement , sand and brick in one meter cubic volume
Given
- Mortar ration = 6:1 = 7
- mortar thickness = 10mm=0.01m
- density of cement = 1440
Solution
brick of 1 m³
- volume of brick = length X width x
thickness ( without mortar)
- volume of brick = L x W x T
- volume of brick = 0.19 x 0.09 x 0.09
- volume of brick = 0.001539 m³
With mortar
Volume of brick add 0.01m in the three dimensions
(0.19+0.01) x (0.09+0.01) x (0.09+0.01)
= 0.2m x 0.10m x 0.10m
Now let’s compute the volume
- volume of brick = L x W x T
- volume of brick = 0.2m x 0.1m x 0.1m
- volume of brick = 0.002 m³
- Number of brick 1m³ = 1/ 0.002 =
#500 of brick 🧱
➪ Volume of mortar
= 1 - ( 500x0.001539) .... Dry VOLUME
Thus; 1 is total meter cube of volume
- 500 is total number of brick 🧱
- dry volume of brick without mortar
= 1- (500x 0.001539) = 0.2305m³
☞ For Wet volume of mortar we Take
40% ( 10% shrinkage & 30%
wastage )
40% = 40/10 = 0.4 ; so we multiply to dry volume with 1 + 0.4 = 1.4
Wet volume
= 0.2305m³ x 1.4 = 0.3227m³
Cement of 1m³
➪ I have given you the ratio yesterday
We assumed 6:1 so it add up 7
=6+1 = 7
-Quantity of cement = 1/7 x 0.3227m³
- Quantity of cement = 0.0461m³
- 0.0461m³ x 1440kg/m³ = 66.384kg
* Weight of cement = 66.384kg
- Number of bags = 66.38kg/ 50kg
- Number of bags = 1.32 app 2 bags
Sands for 1m³
- Quantity of sand = 6/7 x 0.3227m³
- quantity of sand = 0.2766m³
• if we want to quantify it with kilogram
- the density of sand is 1442kg/m³
Mass = density x volume
Mass= 1442kg/m³ x 0.2766m³
Mass = 398.8kg app 400kg
For 1m³ volume
➪ total number of brick = 500
➪ quantity of cement = 66.38 kg (mass)
➪ quantity of sand = 400 kg (mass)
➪ quantity of cement = 0.0461m³ (volume)
➪ quantity of sand = 0.2766m³ (volume)
